Our Story

Where Nature Meets Elegance in the Canadian Rockies

How It All Started

Back in '98, my grandfather used to say this plot of land had something special about it. He wasn't wrong. Standing at 1250 Mountain View Drive, you'd catch sunrises that'd make you forget your morning coffee - and that's saying something for us Albertans.

The Ravenforge name? That comes from the old blacksmith shop that used to sit right where our main lodge is now. Ravens would perch on the roof every morning like clockwork, watching the forge master work. When we bought this land, we found some of those original ironwork pieces buried under decades of pine needles and snow. They're actually displayed in our lobby now - you can't miss 'em.

Building this place wasn't easy. We wanted to respect what nature gave us here while creating something that'd make folks want to stay longer than they planned. Took us three years of working with local craftspeople, architects who actually understood mountain living, and a whole lot of trial and error.

The Philosophy We Live By

Look, we could've built just another fancy hotel. Put in marble everywhere, gone full glitz and glamour. But that didn't feel right. The Rockies don't do pretentious - they do real, they do honest, they do breathtaking without even trying.

"When guests walk through our doors, they're not checking into a hotel. They're coming home to the mountains, maybe for the first time."

- Sarah Quinthor, General Manager

That's why you'll find reclaimed timber from old barns alongside heated floors. Why our spa uses spring water that comes straight from the mountain. Why our restaurant sources from ranches and farms within a two-hour drive. It's about blending comfort with authenticity.

More Than Just a Place to Sleep

We've got folks who come back year after year, sometimes twice a year. They're not just here for the thread count on the sheets - though yeah, those are pretty great. They come back because there's something about waking up to mountain air, watching elk graze from your balcony, or soaking in a natural hot spring after a day on the trails.

Our team? Most of 'em are locals who grew up in these mountains. They know which trails are best for sunrise hikes, where to spot bighorn sheep, and which days the powder's gonna be perfect. That kind of knowledge doesn't come from a training manual.
